Interesting Week

This has been an interesting week.  One of our progressing investigators had a set back and was unable to continue to have lessons.  But she still wants to read her scriptures so she’s going to be awesome one day.

We also had an hour and a half lesson with somebody who doesn’t live in our area, named Sai Chung. He initially only wanted to learn more about our culture, but we ended up teaching an extremely spiritual lesson on the atonement of Jesus Christ and repentance. Sai literally cried when we gave him a copy of the Book of Mormon.  He has committed to reading the Book of Mormon. So yeah! Maybe one day he will commit to be baptized.

On Saturday, we had a baptism for our investigator Lux Taylor. It was an awesome service, and you could feel the Holy Spirit in the meeting. Lux was confirmed on Sunday the next day. [Editor’s note: In the LDS Church being a baptized member of the church is a two-step process. First, you are baptized by immersion in water. Second, you are given the Gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands and confirmed a member of the church. We call this Confirmation. As a verb, confirm.]  It was awesome to see his family come together. His father had been less active and only recently came back to church. After the baptism both parents were with Lux and show casing their baptism scriptures, and connecting over the scriptures.  Like I said, it was awesome!

We also broke the baptism font. Yep. We couldn’t unplug the font and we ended up breaking the plug, even more than it was already broken. We had to have our senior missionary couple come over, one of whom was a plumber who discovered the problem and fixed it. I can now indulge in my knowledge of PVC pipe and heat. The font’s plug was a three-quarter inch PVC pipe part that screwed into a PVC pipe Apparently, our first mistake was tightening the PVC plug too tightly into the pipe. Once hot water was added to the font it caused the PVC pipe to expand and the PVC pipe fused with the plug, making it impossible to unplug. Elder Koldewyn our senior couple had to cut it out. But it all ended up okay in the end.

I also got food poisoning, so I’m sick again. (I got better).

Regards from Elder Brown.

  1. You’re letters inspire me to want to be a missionary. dont necessariy want to serve as a single sister again as that was one of the harder things I’ve ever done in my life. I would like to get married and serve with a brother proslyting like you. If you happen to meet any single older men, tell them of my desire please, I’m so proud of you for your service. Keep up the good work
